Amazon has announced that its front-line employees in New York receive total compensation averaging over $30 per hour. This announcement was made through a company news post, highlighting the company’s impact on employment and economic contributions within the state.
According to Amazon, it has invested over $52 billion in New York since 2010, supporting more than 34,000 direct employees. The company operates 10 fulfillment and sortation centers, 35 delivery stations, and retail outlets throughout the state. Its operations reportedly contribute $46 billion to New York’s gross domestic product.
The company states that front-line employees in customer fulfillment and transportation roles earn a base wage of more than $23 per hour. When benefits are included, total compensation averages over $30 per hour. These benefits encompass health insurance, 401(k) plans with a company match, paid parental leave, and mental health resources. Amazon says this investment is part of a $1.3 billion nationwide initiative aimed at improving wages and healthcare affordability.
