Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced an expanded partnership with Nasdaq, enabling financial institutions to deploy Nasdaq Calypso as a fully managed service on AWS. This initiative aims to modernize capital markets and treasury infrastructure.

According to Amazon’s official newsroom, Nasdaq Calypso is a platform that supports workflows across trading, risk, and regulatory compliance. AWS explained that by delivering Calypso as a managed service, financial institutions can eliminate the need to maintain underlying infrastructure, resulting in faster deployment and streamlined upgrades. The companies emphasized that this collaboration enhances resilience, security, and scalability for mission-critical operations while reducing fragmentation in legacy systems.

Nasdaq highlighted that this development comes at a crucial time when capital markets participants face regulatory pressures and must modernize outdated systems. Magnus Haglind, Head of Capital Markets Technology at Nasdaq, said that cloud and managed services are becoming the dominant model for mission-critical platforms. He added that AWS’s infrastructure positions Nasdaq to lead industry-wide transformation by improving efficiency and enabling innovation across the financial sector.

John Kain, Director of Financial Services Market Development at AWS, said in the announcement that financial institutions are struggling with the paradox of innovating quickly while maintaining legacy technology stacks. According to Amazon’s newsroom, deploying Nasdaq Calypso on AWS provides clients with access to secure, high-performing, and future-ready infrastructure. Kain emphasized that this model also enables advanced AI analytics, real-time data flows, and improved resilience—critical factors for capital markets institutions.

Amazon was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington. It is a global technology company operating across e-commerce, cloud computing, digital media, logistics, and consumer electronics. Its cloud division serves industries ranging from finance to healthcare and government by providing secure and scalable infrastructure. According to the company’s official “About Amazon” page, AWS plays a central role in helping organizations modernize operations while supporting Amazon’s broader mission of customer obsession and innovation.
