Governor Kathy Hochul has issued a statement following the death of Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville. She expressed her condolences to the Hudson Valley community and highlighted Sheriff McConville’s commitment to public service.

“Today, I join the Hudson Valley community in mourning the loss of Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville.

“Sheriff McConville dedicated his life to public service and keeping New Yorkers safe, first with the MTA Police Department and later as Sheriff in Putnam County. We are grateful for his leadership over his three decade long career — and safer because of it.

“I send my deepest condolences to Sheriff McConville’s loved ones, his law enforcement colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched as they mourn his passing.”

Sheriff McConville served with both the MTA Police Department and as sheriff in Putnam County during a career that spanned more than thirty years.
