Flags at New York State government buildings will be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, September 4, in memory of Kevin M. Robert, a flight paramedic who died in the line of duty last week. The order was given by Governor Kathy Hochul.

“Kevin Robert answered the call to serve his community and provided aid in a time of need to countless New Yorkers throughout his career as a paramedic,” Governor Hochul said. “Today we are sending our deepest condolences to his loved ones, his colleagues, and the entire Mechanicville community as they honor his life and legacy.”

Robert worked for 15 years with Air Method-Life Net of New York as a Certified Flight Paramedic. He also helped found the John Ahearn Rescue Squad in Mechanicville and served as a paramedic for several ambulance services including Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps and Malta-Stillwater EMS. In addition, he taught as a paramedic instructor at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC).
