The Indian Point Decommissioning Oversight Board (DOB) will hold a public meeting on December 11, 2025, to discuss updates and presentations regarding the decommissioning of the Indian Point facility. The DOB was established by the New York State Department of Public Service in response to a directive issued on December 31, 2020. Its purpose is to provide a platform for information sharing among agencies, identify issues for oversight bodies, and inform the public about decommissioning activities and spent fuel management.

The upcoming meeting will take place at Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School in Buchanan, New York, starting at 6:00 PM. Members of the public can attend either in person or virtually via Zoom. Those wishing to make statements during the meeting must pre-register by noon on December 9, 2025. Attendees who do not plan to speak are also encouraged to pre-register for seating purposes but are not required to do so.

Doors will open half an hour before the meeting begins, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. An agenda will be provided ahead of time and can be accessed along with other related documents through the Department’s website by searching case number “21-01188” under “File Search.”

During a designated 30-minute period within the meeting, participants may deliver statements about the scope and goals of the DOB either in person or virtually. Pre-registration is required for those wishing to speak; this can be done electronically via an online form or by phone.

For individuals unable to attend or preferring not to speak during the session, written comments referencing “Matter 21-01188 – Indian Point Task Force and Oversight Board” are invited until December 18, 2025; however, comments will continue to be accepted throughout the process. Comments may be submitted online through www.dps.ny.gov or mailed directly to Hon. Michelle L. Phillips at Three Empire State Plaza in Albany.

All written comments become part of the official record and are posted publicly on the Department’s website under their respective matter numbers.

Additional options for submitting feedback include calling a toll-free opinion line set up by the Department of Public Service that operates around-the-clock for in-state calls; summaries from these calls are shared with staff but are not transcribed verbatim.

Assistance is available for those who have difficulty understanding English or require special accommodations due to disabilities by contacting relevant departments listed in the notice.

Questions regarding participation can be directed to Tom Kaczmarek at (518) 474-7080 or via email.
