Marist University is set to welcome more than 2,000 students to its campus this summer, continuing its tradition as an active center for education, athletics, and career development. The university’s summer programs range from pre-college courses for high school students to research opportunities and internships for current Marist students.

Over 300 high school students from across the country will participate in Marist’s Summer Pre-College program. These students will live on campus for two weeks and take part in academic programs led by Marist faculty, covering subjects such as sports communications, fashion design, studio art, and game design.

The campus will also host the Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) Summer Away Residential Camp. This initiative provides middle school students with advanced math courses and STEM activities. BEAM focuses on supporting low-income students from middle and high schools as they explore potential careers in STEM fields.

Students and alumni are involved in productions for New York Stage and Film’s 40th anniversary season. All performances are held on the Marist campus. The New York Times has highlighted these events as notable festival plays worth attending this summer.

Astronomy Nights at Marist offer guided telescope viewing sessions under the Hudson Valley sky. These events are open to the campus community and include participation from student researchers.

In partnership with Newburgh Free Academy, the Newburgh Early College Scholars program allows high-achieving high school students to take summer courses at Marist. This gives them exposure to college-level academics while familiarizing them with campus life.

Current journalism students are interning at Hudson Valley media outlets through the Community Journalism Summer Internship Program. Run by the School of Communication and the Arts and supported by the Bopp Endowment, this initiative aims to provide hands-on reporting experience while supporting local journalism efforts.

Marist Athletics is running a series of sports camps throughout the summer in basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and other sports. Many camps are led by current student-athletes who provide coaching and mentorship.

Students across disciplines such as natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities are participating in faculty-mentored research projects over the summer. These donor-supported projects help students develop skills in research design, data analysis, critical thinking, and academic presentation.

Graduate health sciences programs continue through the summer as well. The Physician Assistant program welcomes its tenth cohort; Doctor of Physical Therapy students engage in coursework and clinical rotations; Athletic Training students combine classroom instruction with practical clinical experience.

The Tarver Summer Internship Program places Marist students with regional nonprofits focused on education, environmental issues, and social services. The program combines professional development with reflective learning experiences.

Additionally, Marist University has hosted more than a dozen groups of academic and industry leaders this summer for summits, trainings, and working sessions on topics including artificial intelligence advancements, play therapy innovations for children, and U.S. history viewed through Franklin D. Roosevelt’s leadership.
