Marist University was announced as the newest university partner of the Cristo Rey Network on March 13. The partnership adds Marist to a group of more than 75 universities nationwide that work with Cristo Rey, an organization focused on supporting students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college.
Cristo Rey operates high schools across the country that combine four years of academic study with four years of professional work experience. This approach aims to give students both knowledge and practical skills. The new partnership aligns with Marist’s emphasis on blending liberal arts education with pre-professional training.
“Welcoming Marist University as a University Partner is an exciting opportunity for Cristo Rey students,” said Sonya Ramirez, Director of University Partnerships. “This partnership will open new doors for our graduates, giving them access to Marist’s world-class academics and hands-on opportunities that emphasize experiential learning and prepare students for success beyond graduation.”
As part of the agreement, Marist will provide significant financial support for up to ten Cristo Rey students who enroll each fall. In addition, eligible students will be able to receive full-tuition scholarships to participate in Marist’s summer pre-college programs.
Sean Kaylor, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Marist University, said, “Partnering with the Cristo Rey Network is a natural extension of Marist’s mission to expand access to a transformative college education. Cristo Rey students bring remarkable determination, talent, and real‑world experience. We look forward to welcoming them and helping them build pathways to opportunities that last a lifetime.”
The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts by both organizations to broaden educational access and provide meaningful experiences that help prepare students for future success.
