The organization describes its approach as preparedness rather than paranoia. The guide introduces a “safety stack” with four steps: Verify, Position, Communicate, and Exit. It highlights specific Uber features such as real-time GPS tracking through trip sharing, the in-app emergency button and safety toolkit, Verify My Ride PIN verification, as well as options to share ride details with trusted contacts. Practical advice includes consistent seatbelt use, sitting in the back seat when riding alone for better space and exit options, maintaining privacy discipline while communicating live trip status with others, trusting instincts during trips, and using public locations when ending a ride if something feels wrong.According to NY SAFE Inc.

It also emphasizes trusting instincts and using seatbelts consistently to reduce risks during Uber and Lyft trips in New York,” according to NY SAFE Inc.
