Several alumni of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University have shared how their time at law school led to lasting relationships. The school invited graduates to recount their experiences, emphasizing connections made in classes, student organizations, and campus spaces.

Gabriella Mickel and Daniel Guarracino, both class of 2023, met during their first year when they lived in Dannat Hall and were assigned to the same section and Legal Writing class. Gabriella said, “We very naturally spent a lot of time together right away and it progressed from there.” She added that they married soon after graduating with many fellow alumni and professors attending the ceremony. “Not only did we both gain a law degree, but we were lucky enough to find each other,” she said.

After graduation, Gabriella obtained an LLM and is now a Teaching Professor at Wayne Law in Detroit. She teaches legal writing and environmental law. Daniel works as an attorney at the law office of Norman Abood with a focus on civil litigation.

Brent Keith and Erin Flannery Keith, both class of 2009, became friends through their shared interest in environmental law but only began dating after reconnecting through work two years post-graduation. They now live in northwest Connecticut where Erin serves as Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 1. Brent leads the land policy team for the Nature Conservancy in North America. They have been married for 13 years.

Michael J. Konicoff and Hon. Taylor A. Piscionere met during their first year as classmates in the same section. Michael later proposed outside the library on campus where they had first met. They recently marked ten years of marriage; Michael is a partner at Piscionere & Nemarow, P.C., while Taylor serves as a judge in Rye City Court.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law continues to encourage alumni to share stories about personal connections formed during their studies by reaching out to Jessica Dubuss, Executive Director of Communications.
