Born and raised in Kolkata, India, a recent Pace University graduate has shared his journey from studying computer science in New York City to becoming a senior software engineer at Wells Fargo. He began his studies at Pace University’s MS in Computer Science program after receiving a merit-based scholarship, which recognized both his industry experience as a software engineer and his research publications.

He described the challenges he faced during his time at Pace University, including a period of hospitalization that made him consider dropping out. Support from faculty and encouragement helped him continue. “You’re already in the top 20 percent. Now step out of your comfort zone and get into the top 5 percent,” one professor told him. He cited thorough preparation, guidance from professors, and support from Pace’s Career Services as key factors in completing his degree early, graduating in May 2023.

After graduation, he interned at a large tech firm before joining Wells Fargo as a senior software engineer in 2024. At age 27, he became the youngest person to hold that role on a major federal project within the company. During the hiring process, interviewers noted that he stood out among twelve experienced candidates due to the depth of his answers.

He credited much of his professional development to programs like Pace’s International Buddy Program and its diverse community. These experiences prepared him for leading cross-functional teams with members from different backgrounds.

“Fear ends where learning begins,” he said about overcoming setbacks throughout his academic and professional journey. He hopes sharing his story will inspire aspiring engineers not to fear failure but instead see it as part of learning.
