Pace University has announced the opening of Project Planet 2025–2026, an innovation contest for students interested in environmental entrepreneurship. The initiative is organized in partnership with Speedemissions, Inc., a clean air testing company based in Atlanta, and The Front Yard at Pace University.

Now entering its third year, Project Planet seeks original ideas from both undergraduate and graduate students that could have a significant impact on the environment and local communities. Up to five winners will be selected, each receiving a $6,000 award. The contest period runs from October 1 to December 31, with winners announced and awards distributed in mid-February 2026 at Pace University.

According to the guidelines, submissions should be two to three pages long and must be original works by the applicants. Entries generated or heavily assisted by artificial intelligence are not eligible. Proposals will be judged on criteria such as feasibility, community impact, practicality, scalability, technology integration, potential for collaboration, cost and revenue models, and long-term sustainability.

The competition is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Pace University for both Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Participants can enter individually or as teams of up to two people; team awards will be split equally. Non-U.S. citizens may also participate if they have a U.S. bank or credit union account for receiving funds.

“There are no restrictions on how award funds are used. Past recipients have applied their awards toward tuition, commuting and living expenses, and professional development opportunities,” according to the organizers. “Award funds are provided by Speedemissions and distributed by Pace University.”

Students are encouraged to consult faculty while developing their proposals. Submissions can be made online through www.projectplanetusa.com by following the instructions provided.
