Pace University has announced that Horace E. Anderson Jr. will continue as dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, with his next term starting in January 2026. Anderson was first appointed to the position in December 2019 after serving as interim dean.
During Anderson’s tenure, Haub Law has held the top national ranking in Environmental Law from U.S. News & World Report for five years running. The school is also recognized nationally for its programs in Trial Advocacy, Dispute Resolution, International Law, Health Law, Tax Law, and its Part-Time Program.
“Horace Anderson’s reappointment as dean reflects our confidence in his continued leadership and vision,” said Pace University President Marvin Krislov. “He has built a culture of opportunity and academic excellence at Haub Law, expanding programs, opening new pathways for diverse students, and solidifying the school’s reputation on a national level. I’m proud to continue working with him to advance our mission of Opportunitas.”
Anderson has introduced new academic and community initiatives at Haub Law while increasing the school’s international engagement. He led the creation of the Sustainable Business Law Hub focused on ESG and environmental governance, expanded offerings such as the Advanced Certificate in Health Law and Policy, redesigned the part-time Flex J.D. program for working professionals, increased scholarships and donations, and fostered international partnerships. Anderson also launched projects like the Pace Access to Justice Project which includes student-led efforts to address legal access issues.
“It’s an incredible honor to continue serving as dean of this remarkable law school,” said Anderson. “Haub Law is a place where talented, driven students come to make change—and we give them the tools to do so. I’m proud of what we’ve built together and look forward to the next chapter in our work to expand access to justice, promote sustainability, and transform lives through legal education.”
Beyond his work at Pace University, Anderson serves on several regional justice reform committees and sits on boards including the Center for Community Alternatives and Westchester County Association. His contributions have been recognized by organizations such as Nonprofit Westchester—which gave him its 2023 Changemaker Award—and by Westchester County with its 2024 Vernon E. Jordan Jr. Award for Civic Engagement.
Pace University operates campuses in New York City and Westchester County offering degree programs across multiple disciplines to about 13,600 students each year.
The Elisabeth Haub School of Law offers JD and Masters degrees in Environmental Law and Comparative Legal Studies along with a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) degree in Environmental Law. The law school opened in White Plains in 1976; it currently counts over 10,000 alumni worldwide.
