Skye Tchegnon, a student at Pace University’s Lubin School of Business and member of the Class of 2028, is currently working as a Social Media Marketing Intern at Talbot Media. She credits her preparation for this role to the American Marketing Association, which provided opportunities to gain industry knowledge and participate in professional development workshops such as elevator pitching, speed networking, and their Regional Conference.

Tchegnon said she was attracted to the internship because it offered hands-on experience working directly with clients and the opportunity to collaborate with Pace alumni who founded the company. “As someone new to the marketing industry and still exploring career options early on, I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to take my first step and find my interests,” she said.

Describing her daily routine, Tchegnon explained that she begins by checking her email and project management tool to review tasks. Her responsibilities include designing carousel posts for brands, developing content calendars, and creating social media strategies tailored to client goals. She concludes each day by sending an end-of-day summary to her team and listing tasks for the next workday.

One highlight of her internship has been interacting directly with clients from various industries and producing behind-the-scenes content during shoot days. “One of my shoot days was with a card game, where I was working on set with the clients, their paid actors and my team that helped filmed promotional content for their current card decks and a new product launch!” she said.

The internship has influenced Tchegnon’s career goals by solidifying her interest in social media marketing while also sparking curiosity about analytics. She now uses analytics tools to measure brand growth and engagement through charts or graphs.

Looking ahead to her next semester at Lubin, Tchegnon plans to apply what she has learned by using project management tools alongside her calendar app for homework and group assignments.

For other students seeking internships, Tchegnon advised: “Take advantage of every event Pace offers—you never know who you’ll meet or how they might change your life. In New York City, somebody always knows somebody.”
